The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games
Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release close to the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has three new games already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
