The DCU Series Season 2 Finale to Address Significant Viewer Grievance, James Gunn Reveals

Although audience feedback for Peacemaker the latest season has been largely favorable, with viewers and reviewers praising the acting and storyline—even if the major revelation in episode 7 wasn't exactly a shock—a particular criticism has intensified as the season continues: decreasing runtime lengths.

In recent weeks, audience members have expressed disappointment over the significantly reduced runtimes this season, and indeed, the installments have been getting shorter and shorter. The seventh episode, titled “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (not counting the summary, opening credits, and closing credits), marking the briefest installment yet.

You'll be happy to know next week's episode is nearly an hour in length.

Peacemaker showrunner and DCU boss James Gunn posted on Threads, replying to a viewer's concern.

Although this is encouraging, it's unknown exactly how much of the 57 minutes will be actual new footage, uncluttered by opening and ending sequences, or recaps of previous events. However, even if the episode includes all the aforementioned filler, that still leaves roughly three-quarters of an hour for the finale, which is a significant improvement after episode 7.

Gunn previously hinted that the last episode would not only conclude Peacemaker but also give a hint regarding the future the broader DC Universe as a whole will be moving and serve as a kind of precursor for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Given the cameo of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, many are anticipating a exciting guest appearance to cap off the show.

Peacemaker's finale, the eighth episode, is called "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to find out if fans' suspicions are confirmed.
