Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
