Numerous Join Pro-Palestinian Rallies as Coordinators Promise to Continue Demonstrating

Tens of thousands gathered in various Australian cities at rallies supporting Palestine, with coordinators pledging to continue protesting after a truce agreement negotiated by the American leader in Gaza initially appeared to be holding.

Sydney Demonstration Attracts Many Participants

In Australia's largest city, the activist collective claimed a crowd of 30,000 had protested from the central park to another city park in the downtown area after a planned rally to the famous building was restricted by the state judicial body last week.

Local authorities assessed 8,000 people participated in the Sydney protest, with a official reporting there had been "no significant incidents".

Australian Rallies Remember Occasion

Rallies were also held in southern city, Queensland's capital and Western Australian city on the weekend to commemorate two years of killing in Gaza after Hamas attacks on October 7th, 2023 caused significant casualties in the region.

"In terms of the movement, we'll absolutely continue to advocate for liberation... for self-determination in Gaza, for humanitarian assistance to enter and for locals to reconstruct their homes," stated one organiser.

Varied Responses to Truce Arrangement

Many protesters expressed hope that the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace. Some were doubtful of the former president's role and urged supporters to maintain pressure on the Australian government to impose restrictions and end the trade in military goods.

A participant, a Australian of Palestinian descent living in Sydney, shared he hoped the arrangement could permit him to bring his elderly mother, who is still in Gaza without access to medical care, to the country, and to find and bury his brother, sister-in-law and their four children, who have been missing since 2023.

Local Jewish Population Holds Commemoration

In another development, thousands joined a community remembrance on Sunday night in the city's eastern areas to mark the second anniversary of the 2023 incidents. A participant, the brother of Galit Carbone, an local resident who was a casualty of the events, was planned to address.

There were hopes for soon return of those still detained in Gaza and those killed on 7 October. The foreign envoy, the diplomat, paid tribute to the determination of those affected. The participants reacted negatively when he referenced the national leader and the top diplomat.

Boat Activists Relate Stories

The city's demonstration earlier featured addresses including several locals released from Israeli detention after the halting of the activist vessels in recent weeks.

One activist, his injured limb after it was reportedly injured in an incarceration center, informed that limited details were clear about the truce arrangement. Worldwide assistance agencies, including Unrwa and Unicef, were preparing to enter Gaza.

"As long as there is a situation where there's a harsh and unlawful restriction on the territory," commented McEwen, flotilla activists would keep working to bring support through maritime routes.

Another participant, who came back to the city on the end of the week, gave an emotional speech recounting his imprisonment with numerous other individuals in a detention facility.

Official Comments

The NSW Greens MP Jenny Leong informed attendees: "We must not allow a world where Trump determines the future of the Palestinian people to be the nature of existence we tolerate."

One activist who submitted the original application to protest at the iconic venue asserted that the participants could have peacefully gone to the renowned coastal site. The NSW police assistant commissioner had previously told the judicial body that the arrangement appeared dangerous.

The coordinator said on Sunday: "Whenever the authorities try to restrict our demonstrations or court proceedings, it wakes up a lot of people... to the importance of gathering and oppose such actions."
