BF6 Gamers Concur: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.
Players have started resorting to tailored sessions made via the Portal feature to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how arduous these missions have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the periodically changed everyday and weekly missions. There are four categories of assignments, but while the majority merely grant outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one key firearms found within the game.
Some of these locked weapons may soon find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you aim to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Extremely Difficult Mission
Another Reddit user pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and perhaps an additional option at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.
However, when tackling the tasks in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.
Currently, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these challenging in-game tasks, anticipating a less arduous overall gameplay in coming revisions.
